WannaChat 원어챗

Friends abroad
text you.
In English.

WannaChat is a messaging app for Korean speakers learning English. There are no lessons: friends from around the world message you, and you write every reply yourself.

Android and iPhone versions are in testing. The app's own interface is in Korean.

Morning, Jiwoo! Sorry, a Sunday question.
My trash bag came back. With a sticker 😅
I think there's food in it.
Only a banana peel!
In Hamburg, banana peels go in the brown bin. Where does it go here?
Food waste goes in a separate bin.

Practice that feels like texting a friend

Most English apps teach you sentences. WannaChat gives you people to say them to.

Real conversations

Each friend has a life and an ongoing story: a café in Sydney, a semester in Seoul, a book deadline in Portland. They text when something happens.

You write the reply

No multiple choice. You build each message on a keyboard made for it, and hints point the way without giving the answer away.

English people actually use

Short, casual, real: the phrases friends use in texts, not textbook dialogue. What you learn comes back in later chats.

Starting in Korea, then the other way around

We're starting with Korean speakers learning English. Next, the same friends and the same keyboard for people around the world who want to learn Korean.

Built with Claude

An independent product, made by one person with Claude.

The app was built with Claude Code, and every friend's story is drafted and reviewed with Claude before a human editor approves it.
